Background
Health education delivered through DVD/video has emerged as an innovative method to promote positive health behavior changes among patients. In this context, a community health project was initiated in Cao Bang, a mountainous region of Vietnam. Health workers utilized tablets, portable projectors, and televisions to disseminate health education messages via specially designed video clips.
Method and Objectives
To assess the impact of this approach, a qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured individual and group interviews with 25 health workers in Trung Khanh district. The aim was to explore their experiences and perceptions regarding the use of video for health education.
Results
The findings indicated that video served as an accessible, interactive, and flexible tool for supporting health education activities in the mountainous area. However, some health workers faced challenges due to limited technological skills and a sense of responsibility towards their work.
Conclusions for Practice
To address these challenges, it is essential to provide more training on technology use for health professionals. Additionally, integrating video-based health education activities into the labor contract responsibilities of health workers can help overcome current obstacles and enhance the effectiveness of health education initiatives in the region.
