With the shifting healthcare environment, the importance of public healthcare systems is being emphasized, and the efficiency of these systems has become a critical research agenda. This paper reviews recent research on the efficiency of public healthcare systems using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), one of the leading methods for efficiency analysis. Through a systematic review, we investigate research trends concerning the purposes of the research, specific DEA techniques employed, and the input/output factors utilized in the models. Our findings highlight the various methodologies and approaches currently in use, as well as the factors influencing the efficiency of public healthcare systems. Based on the review results, we suggest future research directions that could further enhance the understanding and analysis of public healthcare efficiency. The insights gained from this study provide valuable information and guidelines for future DEA research focused on public healthcare systems, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches and comprehensive models to improve efficiency and effectiveness in public health delivery.en_US
